We took the photo’s in Potchefstroom at two separate locations along the Mooirivier. The photos were taken between 15:00 and 16:00.
Shooting in a forest environment got me some interesting filter-like effects, having to constantly play with the white balance, aperture and of course the ISO. Generally, my style has a high ISO because of the grainy look it gives – but to each his own.
Camera: Nikon D5100
Exposure time: 1/800 sec.
ISO speed: ISO-1600
Exposure bias: -1.7 step
Max aperture: 3.6
With most, I decreased the exposure, shadows, and blacks. I then increased the contrast clarity, vibrancy, and saturation. Of course, this varies per photo, but this gave me that lovely warm tinge. Thereafter my go-to is the curves adjustment and I fiddle around until I’m happy.
The model: Bernice Nel
She’s beauty, she’s grace. She’s more than just a pretty face.
Working with Bernice was a dream come true – as can be seen in the photo’s she’s a total natural in front of the camera. I very rarely needed to request her to pose or fix her posture – she just has the natural feel for it and really brought the environment into the shoot.
